When President Obama spoke about Climate Change the people at the DNC rose up & erupted in a huge cry

Time for Change?

Friends,

Now that both political conventions in the United States have wrapped up, it’s even clearer how much is at stake over the next two months — especially for the environment.

At the GOP conference of Republicans, candidate Mitt Romney, mocked our efforts to fight climate change and protect the planet. He made us a laughing stock cracking jokes about Climate Change, to raucous laughter and applause from the crowd of diehard denialists and stupid tea par tiers along with blind faith religious zealots who think God will somehow come down from his heavenly abode to save their sorry ass…

Contrast this whith the rational way the Democratic National Conference dealt with the issues of Climate Change and a Warming planet. They dealt with it, RATIONALLY.

And here’s what President Obama, had to say during his acceptance speech at the Democratic Convention about Climate Change from a warming planet…

“And yes, my plan will continue to reduce the carbon pollution that is heating up our planet — because climate change is not a hoax. More droughts and floods and wildfires are not a joke. They are a threat to our children’s future. And in this election, you can do something about it.”

Instead of ignoring the issue of climate change, or even worse — mocking it in front of millions of people on national television — like candidate Romney just did, President Obama has taken the High Road. Obama has takes some tentative, yet historic steps forward, in order to combat abrupt and catastrophic Climate Change and in order to stop the warming of our planet.

Baby steps, yes…

But steps forward and in the correct direction – none the less.

Just this year, he proposed the first-ever national standard for carbon pollution from new power plants — the nation’s single largest individual source of this kind of Greenhouse Gas pollution — and he has proposed an outrageously ambitious goal of generating 80 percent of our electricity from clean energy sources by 2035.

And although we’re not anywhere near to reaching this awesome hairy goal, it’s good to know that it’s there…

Still with the help of President Obama’s historic investments in clean energy, we have more than doubled the amount of electricity we get from wind and solar since he took office. And let’s not forget the new fuel economy standards that will double our vehicles’ fuel economy, reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 6 billion metric tons, and reduce our oil consumption by more than 2 million barrels a day by 2025.

That’s change. That’s how we can start to heal our planet — because unlike the foolish and fossil fueled candidate Mitt Romney, President Obama doesn’t think climate change is a joke.

I know you don’t either. So stand up and go out to organize and don’t forget to register to vote.

Because we all must do our part to help protect all our progress on the environment, and make sure we have the chance to make some drastic changes together in the second term of the President.

Do this for the soul of your children. Because the planet doesn’t need saving. We are the ones that must save ourselves…

And if you want to volunteer to stand with the President on this and all other very important issues, here it goes:

Yours,
Pano

PS:

Environmentalists need to spread the word and tell all our friends what’s at stake for the environment in this election…
