”To see how it would feel…” A Poem, by Jim Clark

To see how it would feel…
Sometimes when a light breeze is blowing, it aches to be a howling wind.
It wants to put fear into the oaks and junipers and pines…                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                just once
to see how it would feel.

Occasionally when a light rain is falling, it craves to be a drenching storm.
It wants to intimidate the puddles and brooks and streams…
just once
to see how it would feel.

Once a month when the moonlight is bathing the earth, it craves to destroy shadows.
It wants to make people forget the beating, relentless, cruel sun…
just once
to see how it would feel.
