Climate change brings the world closer to ‘doomsday’, say concerned Nobel Laureates. Physicists, and Physical scientists.
They track these things through the Atomic Clock otherwise known as the Doomsday Clock that signals the Human Species extinction event when the clock turns to midnight. When the time of the Atomic Clock, turns to 12 o’clock — it signals the End. Curtains for the whole Human race.
Some other species will have to write the Eulogy for all of us, and maybe some other species’ historians will perform the historical “Post-Mortem” and tell our tale as a Cautionary story of practices to be avoided in the times to come.
But repeating the story of Humanity after we are gone, will not do fats-lot-of-good for us…
It’s never good to be the indicator species that gets lost in the long line od succession of species that disappeared because they couldn’t adapt to the changing climate and a diminished world – when they had overexploited their environment.
We know the tale but can’t seem to avoid the fate that awaits all transgressors of the visibly stretched resource and tolerance of the Earth limits.
Climate change poses an ever-growing threat to civilization bringing the world closer to the proverbial “Doomsday”
This comes as a group of prominent scientists and Nobel laureates examined the world’s vital signs and announced their findings this Thursday.
The imminent extinction threat Climate Change represents for the human race, along with the modernization of Nuclear weapons and the antagonisms between nuclear armed nations pose the gravest threat ever to humanity’s continued survival…
“It is now three minutes to midnight,” said Kennette Benedict, executive director of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, as the group moved its symbolic “Doomsday Clock” two minutes forward.
The Doomsday Clock was created in 1947 right after the Second World war and with full knowledge of the Atomic weapons and their effect on the atmosphere as seen from the radiation spill after Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and the many atomic tests throughout the world.
The atomic clock — or better known as the Doomsday Clock, has changed 18 times since then, ranging from two minutes to midnight in 1953 to 17 minutes before midnight in 1991. We are now again at the closest to midnight, it’s ever been during peacetime.
To put this in context — we need to recognize the strains we place on our Natural Environment which supports and sustains us. This coupled with the massive nuclear weapons procurement and modernization of the incredible huge arsenals — has created an evil movement around the world.
It’s time to pause and think of where we are going….
Is worth noting that the Atomic Clock, has been at five minutes to midnight since 2012 and the last time it was three minutes to midnight was in 1983, when the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union was at its iciest.
“Today, unchecked climate change and a nuclear arms race resulting from modernization of huge arsenals pose extraordinary and undeniable threats to the continued existence of humanity,” Benedict said.
“And world leaders have failed to act with the speed or the scale required to protect citizens from potential catastrophe.”
The scientists called on people to demand action from their leaders to curb fossil fuel pollution and to cease developing ever more modern nuclear weapons that are endangering the whole human species by devastating the planetary ecosystem and making this very Earth uninhabitable for all of us.
Yours,
Pano
PS:
You can do something about it though.
Besides Public Protest and Lobbying Pressure on the representatives — we also have to be proactive with creating positive change.
Fossil Fuel industry spends upwards of Four Billion USD per year to pressure and buy the consciousness of most politicians out there and thus your voice isn’t going to be heard very well, but you can change that.
You can counter the narrative of the Fossil Fuel industry with positive action by engaging with renewable energy today. Drop your fossil fuel use, recycle, reduce, and reuse.
Built a home made Solar Water Heater and place it on the roof.
Couple that with some home made Solar panels that generate electricity and use old car batteries for storage of the produced electricity to reduce your reliance on the mains Utility produced electricity.
Recycle your water and produce basic foods in your garden.
Collect rainwater and recycle brown water for your victory garden.
And vote with your Dollars every time you buy something, by supporting local food production and your own community.
But above all else, if you want to survive: Do not vote for fossil fuel “owned” politicians. And here is good to remember that the Atomic weapons and the Nuclear Industry of electricity producing nuclear plants are inextricably linked with killing our planet and ourselves.
Simple as that.
