Cosmonautics Day is the day to commemorate Human Space Flight….
April 12th of each year is hosted around the world to remember the day of 1961 on April 12th that the first human flew in space…
Yuri’s Night is a global celebrations of humanity’s presence in space each April 12 in commemoration of Yuri Gagarin’s first manned space flight and the inaugural launch of the Space Shuttle.
Currently in its 16th year of operation, Yuri’s Night “hosted” over 600 events in 75 countries in 2015.
Between Cosmonautics Day and Yuri’s night — Sunday April 12th 2015 was a pretty full 24 hours with two public speaking engagements and many new friends and colleagues.
Great Start to a Great New Mission.
This is the Kazakhstan Cosmodrome where Gagarin first took flight from, pad 7 that has now been renamed “Gagarin’s Start”
