The very next day after Germany announced that they would welcome eight hundred thousand people if they could somehow make it into Germany’s borders — they closed down their borders…
Then Germany said that they were to open their borders again under conditions…
Meanwhile a human tide has been unleashed from all the refugee camps in the Syrian Turkey border and all kinds of displaced people are walking to Smyrna and Bodrun and then braving the sea journey and the wine dark sea to the island of Lesvos in Greece.
Then follows the treacherous land walk across several countries and many border crossings to eventually reach German after many privations..
The following week however Germany revised their policy to fit within the European Union’s Shengen agreements and made their borders impermeable again.
So the mass of humanity snaking it’s way across Europe as winter comes — remains in limbo hoping against hope that they will some day reach a place of Refuge…
